No soldering required. The kit is entirely plug-and-play — connect the included TRS cables and IDC power cable, seat the PCB Assembly onto the faceplate, and mount to your rack. A full video installation guide and reference manual are included.
Yes — this is critical. The red wire on the IDC cable marks Pin 1 and must align with the −12V label on the PCB Assembly connector. Inserting the cable in the wrong orientation will damage the PCB, the NTS-1 Mk2, and potentially other modules in your rack. Always verify orientation before powering on.
Connect all cables to the NTS-1 Mk2 before removing any screws from the stock faceplate. Leave the far ends loose. Once the unit is seated in the faceplate and PCB Assembly is attached, flip the assembly and connect each cable to its labeled port on the underside of the PCB board:

Connect a USB-C cable to the DATA port, open the Korg NTS-1 digital kit Librarian, and go to the GLOBAL tab. Key settings:

Yes. The NTS-1 Mk2 requires TRS MIDI Type A. A Type B cable will produce no signal and no error — which can be confusing to diagnose. Check that any cable or adapter is explicitly labeled Type A. A TRS Type A to 5-pin DIN adapter is not included but is widely available.
Yes. The DATA port on the front panel connects directly to the NTS-1 Mk2. Connect a USB-C cable and run the Korg System Updater or Korg Librarian without removing the unit from your rack. Firmware updater available at korg.com ↗
